An island of reason and tolerance in the sea of ignorance
Few days ago, by chance I came across an Australian Christian website, and what grabbed my attention is its section on Wicca.
Most of the Christian websites on Wicca presents false, inaccurate and simply hate-filled information. However, http://www.jesus.com.au/ offers a very different perspective of Wicca from the point of view of a tolerant, open-minded Christian.
Before knowing this website, the only article that treats Wicca as a valid religion and not go crazy proving it is satanic is A Christian Speaks of Wicca and Witchcraft by James Clement Taylor, a member of the St. Mary's Eastern Orthodox Church.
The Wicca section of http://www.jesus.com.au/, written by Philip S. Johnson, has a more scholastic, in depth discussion on Wicca, especially it's relationship and challenges to Christians. While the author has a strong belief in Jesus, he maintains that Wicca is a respectable religion. The author urges that Christians, instead of demonizing and bearing false witness on Wicca, should introspect the Christian theology. Unlike the excessive "demon-busting" websites in cyberspace, this website asks Christians and Wiccans to have conversations, discussing their respective faiths in a tolerant, loving environment without attempt to convert one or another.
Some of the comments left in the website are rather interesting, and some are amusing as well.
It is refreshing and pleasant to read this website. I applaud the webmaster for his effort in making the world a more tolerable place. I only wish that there are more liberal-minded Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and followers of other religions in this world.

My humble comment, as a Catholic as well that Christianity especially Catholics has its roots in paganism as much as we don't like to say it.
All religions have elements from other religions. Judaism is influenced by Zoroastrianism, Chinese Buddhism has elements of Confucianism and Taoism, Santeria incorporates Catholicism and Yoruba elements. The important thing is, we should stop launching holy war on each other, and start to practise some tolerance, even if we could never agree the teachings of other religions.
