Word of the day - Fool

The English word fool generally refers to a person deficient in judgement and understanding, sometimes it refers to a mentally deficient person.

The word fool comes from Middle English fol, from Latin follis, ultimately from PIE *bhel "to blow". Interestingly, the word phallus is also derived from the same root!

Fool is also a card in the major arcana in Tarot deck. Unlike other cards in major arcana, Fool does not have a numeric value. It denotes the notion of beginning of a journey to an unknownable life, the creative chaos, inexperience, the trickster. He is the player in all the cards in the major arcana, the archetype that symbolize our own journey in this world, in this carnation. This card corresponds to the 11th path of the Tree of Life, Uranus, the Hebrew alphabet א.
